Are there more clubs? No, would be our answer. There is a better distribution of venues across the UK, around 300 to 350 in total.
Has the type of venue changed? Yes, there is a bigger variation: burlesque, sports bars, lap dancing bars, Cinema Club Sex Shop Cocktail Bars and many more.
Clubs are larger and more luxurious, even though they can hardly rely on endless fatcat bankers or Premiership Football players. The industry is better regulated than ever before with more regulations on door stewarding, CCTV, music licensing, dancer registrations, venue licenses but in an age of 24 hour drinking and gambling the press seems to have picked stripping out as the cause of everything from rape and violence to drugs and pretty much anything else you could think of…
