These days the strip and lap dancing industry needs to stick together, it needs a central resource which helps punters to get the info they need about clubs in their area and helping venues to reach out. Its only another 6 weeks to April fools day, so its not that then although I did have to check! Stephen Hawking the worlds top Physicist and author of Brief History of Time has been revealed as a strip club aficionado who likes nothing better than a lap dance in the surroundings of an exclusive Californian club. Who would have thought it?
If Stephen Hawking can make it out to patronise his local venue then why cant more of us?
Maybe Professor Hawkins could explain why dances always seem to be shorter than they should do and why theres a black hole in my finances after a visit? Dont know if I quite believe this one. In the week the press got banged to rights for tapping phones, and ended up with paying our millions to various celebs this one has crept under the radar. Remember Freddie Starr?

You can rely on the BBC for a one sided way of looking at the industry. In their latest article called ‘The rise and fall of lap dancing’ its clear not much has changed, I mean they are even saying that its only a matter of time until clubs are wiped out around the country by the new legislation introduced in 2009. As if that ever changed anything apart from putting money in lawyers and local councilers pockets. They ask the question How has lap dancing changed the country?
They go onto say that the type of entertainment in most clubs was ‘usually seen in back alleys’, not that lap dancing took the average strip club out of the back alley, made in regulated, added security and brought in money for thousands of dancers. They bring up the usually hobby horse that 25% of dancers were students, so they would rather these women couldnt afford it? You can write your own answer there. They go on to mention the doubling in club numbers to 300 between 2004 and 2008, which is categorically not true. Club numbers have risen over that period but not nearly by that number. People who dont know about the industry really want to believe this stuff.
They could have gone further, finding figures on anything from drugs, crime etc and say since lap dancing was introduced these things have risen. You see where I am going with this, anything negative which has happened was obviously cause and effect due to lap dancing!

Reading all your lovely comments on clubs its clear that there are a few things getting on your nerves about clubs in general.
Pushy dancers – Just say no you are allowed to have quiet drink and watch the show, or wait for a specific dancer. Be polite though, these people are working after all.
Pricey drinks – Clubs vary so find out before you order a huge round of drinks, stick to the cheapest beverage like beer or wine.
Short dances – Dances last for one song unless specified, if you are unhappy with dances or their duration then dont buy any more at that club. Dancers will be told to be strict about taking up their time on one client, dont be offended.
Too few dancers – Spending £5 on a pint of lager to watch other people have fun can be a bit frustrating, but at peak times most venues will be at maximum capacity. Get in their early or book ahead for special treatment.

Clubs defrauded by phoney credit card. the man paid for £300 VIP lapdance with a credit card cloned from someone in the US, only to be be discovered on trying again.
London men convicted of murder of bouncer in 2010 outside The Mayfair Club. A Bouncer called Tony Paduret was shot twice in November 2010, after having a dispute about entry with a group of young men.
