According to The Sun and the Secrets Chain, punters are flocking back to clubs bringing numbers back to pre-recession levels.
The newspaper has made the fairly predictable connection between people buying Champagne at Christmas and new year along with punters having their festive night out and created a new ‘city banker’ situation. Remember ‘fat cats’ and ‘bankers’ have always been an easy target for the red tops and they have always attempted to link them with strip clubs with the insinuation that they are spending all our money in strip and lap dancing clubs. Venues are tainted by association, the process starts again with the upturn in the economy.
They also mention, which is more interesting that female punters are increasing with up to a fifth of the total are female. Are other venues seeing the same change? Will the media still retain their jaundiced view of clubs with a real mix of the sexes? If there are plenty of females present can their perception still be the same?

The University of Leeds want to pay £30,000+ per year to a Research Officer dealing with lap dancing and the ‘night time economy’ whatever that means! Public money is being used to send someone to lap dancing clubs, when the government is doing their best to close them all down! Or re-classify them or whatever they are telling themselves now.
Does this mean the government are so worried about the industry that they are taking more interest in it? Probably not, is this just another one of those stories where colleges and unversities get free column inches with stupid research and wacky courses?, yes. Either way we are paying for it, as they strangle in the industry. Just like the council monitoring of CCTV cameras in clubs (done behind closed doors) this is a way of jobs for the boys. You can picture the brain storming session which resulted in this beauty! Guaranteed to offend everyone in the industry and everyone else.
