Lap dancing Explosion
One of the big reasons for new strip and lap dancing legislation changes was the giant jump in venue numbers across the UK, the media and pressure groups were using the figures to their own advantage. There are around 350 venues in the UK. Since 2003 legislation came in making lap dancing venues on a par with karaoke bars and pubs have we really seen an explosion in venue numbers?
The answer is no, before UK Strip Clubs started up in 2005 there were almost the same number of clubs. If anything venues are of a higher standard and better regulated. But anyone who is anti the industry will pick this number out of the air and use it against us. Venues are now spread more around the country than ever before, there is no reason why they have to be in unsuitable positions. Some towns in the UK are always to protest against clubs no matter where they are and what the clubs are like. This has been the final straw that pushed the balance against clubs.
Gone are the days when you can go to your local club, it will be one of the big centres (Birmingham, Soho, Edinburgh, Leeds) or nothing. Venues that have been open for decades will be swept away with the newer venues leaving only a few left.
Walk through any city centre in the country and tell me there are not more pubs, more clubs and more fast food restaurants. Are we to have a cap on their numbers? I am sure that more disturbances are reported outside Mcdonalds on a Saturday Closing time, or your local cheapo Wine Bar than any club. Strip venues have a better record that the average club.
