UK Strip Clubs will be back in 2011 bigger and badder than ever, we are off to our local for a dance or two with our favourite girls…maybe a few drinks and repeat over and over you know the way it goes! Cant wait!
2010 had some much heralded changes in the legislation that governs clubs and the way licenses are assigned but what will 2011 have in store?
With licenses now costing from £4,000 to £30,000 depending on the council approving it there are sure to be a limit to new clubs, venue numbers have stayed quite steady during 2010 and we are not expecting much change, some established names have closed but new ones (some in unlikely areas) have opened to take their place.
New kinds of clubs? Clubs have always tried to be different (themed music, decor theme or combining a few types of entertainment) the standard type of clubs are still the main earners and I dont see any changes in 2011.
New image due to the new legislation? Will the new changes make the industry less of easy target. No the industry trades on an element of risque appeal for lads of certain age, which has led to its being persecuted with all sorts of wild ill informed allegations made. The more sanitised image of 90s lap dancing club only raised the profile of clubs resulting in the crack down we have seen this year.
One last point the new legislation was envisaged give us control over inappropriate venue locations, the pet hate of regional and religious news sites up and down the country ie too near school, old folks home, church or sight seeing hotspot but all the changes have done is limit total numbers, there has been no movement on saying where a club can open and what the criteria would be, maybe they felt it would be too much effort. Or maybe that councils dont consider that a problem.
