Iceland has banned all strip clubs, opponents of the ban have compared it to Saudi Arabia where females are not allowed to show their faces in the street. Icelandic PM, Johanna Sigurdardottir, has made the usual protests against the industry siting “drug abuse, trafficking and prostitution” as reasons why the changes have been made. If you read the acticle you see the usual comparisons and slander about the industry, comparing the new legislation set for the start of next month to a ban on prostitution, rather a re-classification to prostitution. It should be noted that the Icelandic PM is in fact a lesbian, would she have been do interested if she had not?
Are members of parliament not meant to be impartial, meaning they campaign on things that are presented to them by the public, representing their interest rather than indulging their own interests and dogmas? The history of the forthcoming UK legislation has been submerged in corruption (the female MP who started the ball rolling was sacked as part of the expenses scandal), lack of public approval and of course lack of a long sighted thinking. How will the current changes end up?
The only way I could conceive of the government thinking that the legislation would be a success was if they wanted to close down the industry but were reticent in the current climate, because it will close many venues and put many into unemployment. In times of recession and struggle the extremists come out the closet and find a receptive audience in tabloid readers and religious types.
Will we follow Iceland Iceland in its crusade against the industry?

UK Strip Clubs has periodical ventures out en masse to clubs and our latest trip to Leeds was one to remember! Apart from London and Brimingham, Leeds has the greatest concentration of clubs in the UK (9 clubs) and we just had to see what all the fuss was about! Thanks to all the venues who welcomed us and showed us what they can do!!!
First off was Silks Gentleman Lounge . Thanks to the manager for getting us free entry and some freebies, loved the club and the girls who knew what they were doing! A really quality experience and a classy club! Will be back! No need for the free limo service, but would have been useful in other circumstances. The club was also really popular with other punters, who flocked inside.
Wildcats – Next up was Wildcats, we still had some cash left so why not see another club with gorgeous girls!! Another great venue with staff that are there for their customers.
Plenty of dances and quite a few drinks later the party was ready move back to the hotel to recover a bit before the long trip home.
UK Strip Clubs thanks all the managers for the great service! Its great to make contact with clubs and see the venues in the flesh (so to speak) plus you can never have too many dances…well wallet allowing of course! We cant visit every club we have listed, or can we? Thats a bet I would like to take. Thanks to Silks Gentlemans Lounge and Wildcats for a quality night and some of the best dances we have had for quite a while! No plans for another trip, but it wont be too long!!
AS ever we love hearing from venues, please email us, Twitter or comment on our clubs and Blog system! We need to hear about your venue, keeping your listing up to date and get involved with the site! Its a free service for the industry that has had national and international media coverage!!

Surfing the web for strip and lap dancing related news this morning its clear that there is something of a backlash going on, the kneejerk reaction anti strip campaign is now in full force with all sorts of sites and publications getting in on the act. The usual suspects are all here with a drip drip campaign against the industry, bring all sorts of ‘experts’ and statistics into play, usually preaching to the converted who want to believe what they read in any case.
One particularly bad one is Christian , although we are not expecting much from a religious site they still have duties to honesty and fair play, there are quite a few issues to raise:
Are there any clubs in the UK who actively seek under 18 dancers? Libelous and unprovable allegations. I do not believe there are any venues a stupid enough to do this.
Dancers did not know what industry was like before they came in and then were ‘unable’ to stop their involvement. White slavery then. With all the negative press, there are still some who dont read it?
Plus the usual mention of ‘sex acts’ conveniently vague.
This is just one of the many industry articles on this website, it seems if you are outside the mainstream people can print anything they want about you and the legal system will not change that. With the UK still in recession the media gives us what they think we want ie a backlash, puritanism and blame can we really complain when the government take notice of the bandwagon and get in on the act by criminalisation and closing clubs? Only a few weeks to go before the industry faces the greatest change since the mid 1990s.

The new unconstitutional strip laws which have been hanging over the industry are set to come into force in 1 month from today, the 1st of April is the right time for them…the lap dancing and strip industry is worth around £2 billion per year to the UK economy and it remains to be seen how much of that will be left when New Labour are through with it.
Apart from the jobs and money that will be lost it allows more say to local residents, meaning any sort of complaint or pressure can get clubs closed or licenses revoked, so expect a flood of complaints backing up the local council system as every crank, old person, bored housewife and religious type cloggs up the system with a million pointless crusades against clubs which have been open without complaint for many years. The old system gave people a chance to complain about problem clubs in specific areas, the new system gives anyone with an axe to grind the chance to complain about any clubs without any real reason. So we can expect long standing and well ordered venues to suffer no matter their record on disorder is, clubs with activists against them in their area can be forced out of business in a rather arbitrary way without reason.
The word witchhunt comes to mind. Basically anyone who wants to pursue a venue will have a platform wasting millions of our tax pounds, clogging up the system. Of course there is also the fact that the media was full of sex trafficking stories a few years ago, now the UK government are turning every lap dancer and stripper in the UK (overseas and UK born) into a sexworker! Every stripper from overseas who came here to be lap dancer when the legislation was different now finds herself in the situation of being re-classified as a ‘sex-worker’. Well done the UK government!!
